Luxury Tented Suite
Oversized canvas tented suite (80+ sqm) raised on polished wooden decks, featuring separate living and sleeping areas with king or twin bed configuration. En-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower, private plunge pool on the sundeck, and unobstructed views of Osprey Lagoon. Canvas walls with thatch roofing provide thermal comfort while maintaining immersive connection to the African night soundscape.
DumaTau Camp is accessed exclusively by light aircraft. Most guests fly into Johannesburg or Maun International Airport, then take a charter flight to Chobe Airstrip (approximately 45 minutes from major hubs), followed by a 30–40 minute vehicle transfer to camp. Wilderness Safaris arranges all transfers, which are included in package rates.
Peak game viewing occurs June through August (dry winter), when elephant herds reach maximum concentrations and plains game congregates around permanent water sources. April–May offers excellent wildlife viewing with fewer guests. December–March brings lush vegetation and birdlife but afternoon thunderstorms and lower elephant densities. The camp operates year-round.
DumaTau Camp is a Premier luxury property with rates ranging from $2,290–$4,452 per person per night based on season and double occupancy. All rates are all-inclusive, covering accommodation, all meals, twice-daily game drives, guided activities, park fees, laundry, and local beverages. International flights and travel insurance are additional.
DumaTau Camp has a minimum age policy of 12+ for game drives, though younger children may be accommodated by special arrangement with advance notice. Family tent configurations are available. The unfenced wilderness setting requires parental supervision, and all guests are escorted after dark as standard practice. The camp's design and activities cater primarily to adult travelers and couples.
DumaTau is known for exceptional Big Five sightings (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and African wild dog). Elephant herds reach mega-herd densities during winter months. Additional species include hippo, giraffe, zebra, sable antelope, roan antelope, kudu, impala, and numerous predators including hyena and cheetah. Nocturnal wildlife includes serval, genet, aardwolf, spring hare, and bushbaby. Rhinos are not present. Bird diversity is exceptional due to extensive swamp habitats.
Activities include twice-daily game drives (3–4 hours each), night drives for nocturnal wildlife viewing, pontoon excursions on the Linyanti River and Savuti Channel, guided nature walks, photography hides at prime wildlife locations, and catch-and-release fishing. All guided activities are led by expert naturalists trained in wildlife behavior and photography positioning. Wellness treatments are available at The Osprey Retreat spa.
DumaTau Camp does not offer Wi-Fi service. The remote wilderness setting and commitment to unplugged guest experiences mean cellular coverage is unavailable. This design choice encourages immersion in the natural environment. Guests should plan accordingly for email and communication needs before arrival.
DumaTau Camp is located in an unfenced wildlife area; guests should remain alert and request staff escort if concerned, particularly after dark (all guests are escorted as standard). Malaria is endemic; consult your physician regarding prophylaxis, particularly during green season (December–March). Yellow fever vaccination is recommended for Botswana travel. Comprehensive travel insurance covering evacuation is strongly advised. The camp maintains 24-hour staff and communication systems for medical emergencies.
DumaTau Camp is Wilderness Safaris' Premier property in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, featuring recently rebuilt luxury accommodations (2019 rebuild), an on-site wellness retreat, and emphasis on conservation-led hospitality. It competes with other high-end Linyanti properties on exclusive positioning, water-based safari access (Savuti Channel and Linyanti River), and elephant concentration during peak season. Wilderness Safaris' multi-country conservation network and operational scale distinguish it among regional operators.
