Raised Safari Tent
Originally designed raised tent with panoramic views of the lagoon and surrounding landscape. Private veranda for wildlife observation and relaxation. En-suite bathroom with hot water and modern fixtures. Elevated design provides natural ventilation and enhanced game viewing from accommodation.
Fig Tree Bush Camp is located in Kafue National Park, Zambia. Most guests arrive via charter aircraft to a nearby airstrip followed by a game drive transfer into the park, or via overland transfer from Livingstone or Lusaka (5-7 hours). Mukambi Safaris arranges all transfers. The camp is situated in an undiscovered section of the park accessed through park roads requiring experienced drivers.
Peak season from June to October offers the best wildlife viewing, cool dry weather, and optimal visibility for game drives. November extends the peak season with slightly warmer temperatures. The dry season concentrates animals around water sources, increasing predator sighting chances. Wet season (March-May) features lush vegetation and new births with fewer tourists and discounted rates, though visibility is reduced. Peak season books out quickly, so advance reservations are essential.
Low season rates start from $525 per person per night. All-inclusive peak season rates are $650 per person per night and include all meals, accommodation, beverages, and twice-daily activities. Additional costs include park entry fees and bed night levies of USD 30 per person per night, charged separately. These fees can be prepaid or settled in cash with the DNPW officer at camp. All-inclusive packages offer excellent value compared to booking activities separately.
Children aged 12 and older are welcome to stay at Fig Tree Bush Camp, though exceptions for younger children can be made with prior management approval. Children of all ages may join parents on game drives and activities, but parents are fully responsible for their safety. The camp does not have a dedicated kids club, so family activities center on shared safari experiences. Walking safaris may have age restrictions due to physical demands and wildlife safety.
Fig Tree Bush Camp offers excellent predator viewing with regular sightings of lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and wild dogs. The concentration of game in the surrounding area attracts these predators regularly. Herbivores include impalas, kudus, buffalo herds, and baboons. Bird watching is excellent around the lagoon setting. Sightings vary seasonally, with dry season (June-October) providing the highest predator encounter rates as animals concentrate around water sources.
Primary activities include twice-daily game drives (typically 3-4 hours each), walking safaris available on request, and night drives to observe nocturnal species. The lagoon location provides bird watching opportunities. Game drives are led by experienced guides who track wildlife and provide expert interpretation. Bush picnic lunches can be arranged during extended drives. Activities are included in all-inclusive rates and can be adjusted based on guest interests and wildlife activity.
Fig Tree Bush Camp is located in a remote section of Kafue National Park and does not offer Wi-Fi or cellular phone service. The camp prioritizes authentic bush camp experiences, encouraging guests to disconnect from technology. The camp operates on 100% solar power with 24-hour electricity for room amenities and essential services. Guests should inform family and work contacts of their unavailability before arrival.
Kafue National Park is a wild area with regular predator activity. Guests must follow all guide instructions during activities for safety. Malaria precautions are recommended; consult your doctor about prophylaxis. The camp provides mosquito nets in all tents and maintains 24-hour electricity for fans and lighting. Emergency evacuation by charter aircraft is possible if needed. Travel insurance including medical evacuation is strongly recommended. The camp is not wheelchair accessible due to terrain and tent design.
Fig Tree Bush Camp is positioned as an ultra-exclusive luxury option within Kafue National Park, with only 4 raised tents in an undiscovered location. Compared to larger lodges like Mukambi Safari Lodge (which accommodates more guests), Fig Tree offers greater intimacy and exclusivity. The camp's 100% solar power, lagoon setting, and raised tent design differentiate it from traditional safari lodges. Other Kafue options include Busanga Plains Camp, Ntemwa Busanga Camp, and Musekese Camp, each offering different positioning and price points.
You can research Fig Tree Bush Camp and compare rates from verified safari operators on SafariFind.com. SafariFind provides transparent pricing and helps you verify operator credentials before booking.
