King's Pool Camp is accessed via charter flight to Kasane International Airport, followed by a secondary charter flight (20–30 minutes) to the camp's private airstrip. Ground transfers from the airstrip to the camp take approximately 20 minutes by vehicle. Road access is possible but requires 4WD and takes 5–6 hours from Kasane. Most guests arrive by charter flight due to the remote location.
The best time for wildlife viewing is the dry season from June to October, when elephant concentrations peak and vegetation is sparse, improving visibility. However, the green season (November–April) offers excellent value, lush landscapes, and outstanding bird-watching with fewer guests. Shoulder seasons (April–May and October–November) provide balanced weather and good game-viewing at moderate rates.
Full-board rates include all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), selected alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, spirits) and soft drinks, twice-daily scheduled game drives, guided bush walks, park fees, and laundry service. Rates do not typically include premium spirits, in-tent spa treatments, night drives, or international flights. Rates range from $1,860–$3,510 per person per night depending on season.
Yes, King's Pool Camp welcomes families with children ages 6 and older on game drives. The camp offers a family suite with two bedrooms, flexible meal times, and activities that can be adapted for younger guests. Children under 12 typically receive 50% rate discounts. Younger children (under 6) may be restricted from certain activities like night drives for safety reasons; contact the camp directly for specific arrangements.
King's Pool Camp offers sightings of all Big Five species (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhinoceros), with particularly high elephant concentrations during dry months (June–October). The camp is also known for frequent wild dog and leopard encounters due to its riverine habitat. Other wildlife includes giraffe, zebra, kudu, impala, lechwe, bushbuck, spotted hyena, and over 400 bird species. Wildlife sightings vary by season and daily conditions.
Included activities are twice-daily game drives in open Range Rovers (approximately 4–5 hours each), guided bush walks with armed guides (2–3 hours), and boat-based safaris on King's Pool Lagoon and the Linyanti River. Optional activities at additional cost include night drives, in-tent spa treatments, and bush dinners. All activities are guided by professional safari guides with extensive wildlife knowledge.
King's Pool Camp does not have Wi-Fi or reliable cell phone coverage due to its remote location in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve. This is intentional, designed to provide guests with an unplugged safari experience. Limited communication is available through the camp's radio system in emergencies. Guests should plan accordingly and inform family/work contacts of their limited connectivity during their stay.
Consult your doctor before traveling to Botswana regarding malaria prophylaxis; Linyanti is a malaria-endemic region, and anti-malarial medications are recommended. Ensure routine vaccinations are current and consider yellow fever and typhoid vaccination. Pack high-SPF sunscreen, insect repellent, and a basic first-aid kit. The camp has radio communication for medical emergencies and can arrange evacuation to Kasane if necessary. Travel insurance that covers medical evacuation is strongly recommended.
King's Pool Camp is Wilderness Safaris' flagship property in Linyanti, offering nine spacious suites with private plunge pools and lagoon views. It competes with other luxury properties like Duma Tau Camp and Lebala Camp in the same reserve. King's Pool distinguishes itself through its premium lagoon-front position, boat safari access, and Wilderness Safaris' conservation reputation. Rates and capacity are comparable to other luxury Linyanti lodges; choice depends on specific amenities, activity preferences, and booking availability.
