Luxury Safari Villa
Spacious climate-controlled villa featuring a private bleached-wood deck with panoramic desert views. Includes indoor and outdoor showers, rooftop terrace for stargazing, private plunge pool, and outdoor bed. King or twin bed configurations available. All utilities powered by solar energy.
Little Kulala is accessible via two routes from Windhoek's Hosea Kutako International Airport (360km away). The fastest option is a charter flight to the lodge's private airstrip, taking approximately 45-60 minutes and costing additional to accommodation rates. Alternatively, self-drive or arranged road transfer takes 5-6 hours via paved highway to Sesriem, then gravel roads to the lodge. The lodge arranges all transfers upon booking.
June through August is peak season, with cooler daytime temperatures averaging 22-28°C, occasional freezing nights, and optimal conditions for activities. However, rates are highest during this period (ZAR 24,312-26,747 per person per night). January through March offers the lowest rates and extreme heat (35-40°C). April-May and September-October provide pleasant temperatures and mid-range pricing. For rainfall effects on the landscape, March-April offers the highest probability, though precipitation is unpredictable.
Little Kulala operates on a fully inclusive basis, including accommodation, all meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), twice-daily scheduled activities (nature drives, guided walks), park fees, laundry service, local drinks, house wines, Namibian VAT, and tourism levy. Excluded from rates are premium imported brands, champagne, hot air balloon safaris (extra charge), and international flights.
Yes, Little Kulala welcomes children aged 6 and older. Children under 12 must share accommodation with an adult in the same villa. For hot air balloon flights, children must be a minimum of 1.3 meters tall to comfortably see over the basket. Private activities can be arranged for children aged 6-12 at additional cost. The lodge accommodates family dietary requirements with advance notice.
Little Kulala is located in the Namib Desert, a landscape with limited traditional wildlife compared to savannah reserves. Desert-adapted species include oryx, springbok, and occasional predators like jackals and hyenas. The lodge's primary focus is geological exploration—iconic red dunes, the petrified camel thorn trees of Deadvlei, and the dramatic Sesriem Canyon. Birdwatching opportunities include desert-adapted species. Night drives showcase nocturnal animals under exceptionally clear starry skies.
Activities include twice-daily guided nature drives, guided bush walks, night drives, sunrise hot air balloon flights with champagne breakfast (additional charge), quad-bike desert tours, electric fat-tire bike exploration, visits to Deadvlei and Sesriem Canyon, and stargazing from private decks. All activities except hot air ballooning and premium experiences are included in the fully inclusive rate. The lodge also maintains a library with regional flora and fauna information.
Yes, Wi-Fi is available at Little Kulala, allowing guests to stay connected when needed. However, many guests appreciate the opportunity to disconnect and immerse themselves in the desert experience. Mobile network coverage is also available in the lodge area.
Little Kulala's cancellation policy allows free cancellation for bookings cancelled 60 or more days prior to arrival. Cancellations made 30-59 days before arrival incur a 50% charge. Bookings cancelled fewer than 30 days before arrival are non-refundable. Exact terms should be confirmed at time of booking, as policies may vary seasonally.
