Virunga Lodge is a 2.5–3 hour ground transfer from Kigali International Airport via scenic highland routes passing terraced farmland and Lake Kivu views. The best times are the dry seasons: June–August and December–February, when gorilla permits are most readily available and mountain trails are less muddy. All rates are fully inclusive of meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), soft drinks, standard and premium alcoholic beverages, signature cocktails, cellar collection wines (excluding French champagne), single malt whiskeys, and daily massage service. The lodge serves international cuisine alongside traditional Rwandan dishes such as brochettes, isombe, and ugali. Dietary restrictions are accommodated with advance notice.

Final balance is due 45 days prior to arrival. Group bookings (4+ rooms) require 35% of the remaining invoice upfront. Bookings within 45 days of arrival require full payment upon invoice receipt.

Virunga Lodge operates under the Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust, directing $50 USD per guest per night toward community development and gorilla habitat protection initiatives. The lodge partners with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, enabling guest participation in research campus tours.
