Forest Villa
Circular elevated villa inspired by traditional Rwandan royal architecture (ihumure). Features a king-sized bed, fireplace, private en-suite bathroom with hot water, and a private terrace overlooking the surrounding rainforest canopy. Natural materials and warm, layered interiors create an intimate luxury atmosphere.
Family Villa
Spacious accommodation designed for multi-generational groups, featuring multiple sleeping areas within the forest villa design. Maintains the same circular architecture and natural materials as standard villas with additional space and flexibility for families traveling together.
Most guests fly into Kigali International Airport (approximately 150km away, 3-4 hours by road), then arrange either a road transfer or domestic flight to the lodge. The lodge can arrange all airport pickups and ground transfers as part of your booking. Road transfer from Kigali takes 3-4 hours via the Kigali-Ruhengeri highway.
The dry seasons (January-February and June-September) offer the best gorilla trekking conditions with clearer forest visibility. June-September is peak season with the highest wildlife activity, though rates are highest at USD 3,795 per person per night. The shoulder seasons (March-May and November-December) provide excellent value at USD 2,569-2,869 per night with fewer crowds, though increased rainfall makes forest trekking more challenging.
2026 rates range from USD 2,569 per person per night (March-April) to USD 3,795 per night (June-October and December-February). All rates are fully inclusive of accommodation, all meals, local beverages, laundry, guided activities, and a complimentary 20-minute daily massage. Mountain gorilla trekking permits (USD 1,500 per person) are additional.
Wilderness Bisate Lodge has a minimum age requirement of 15 years for stays and activities. The lodge offers a family villa for multi-generational groups, though all activities including gorilla trekking and guided walks require guests to be at least 15 years old. Families with younger children should consider alternative Rwanda accommodations.
The primary wildlife experience is mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park, where visitors encounter these endangered primates in their natural forest habitat. The surrounding rainforest canopy supports over 200 bird species including the rare Rwenzori turaco and bar-tailed trogon. Guided forest walks may reveal other forest mammals, though gorilla trekking is the signature experience.
Included activities are guided and self-guided birding walks, forest nature walks with expert naturalists, village cultural visits, tree planting and nursery participation, biodiversity briefings, documentary screenings, and a complimentary 20-minute daily spa treatment. Mountain gorilla trekking requires a separate permit (USD 1,500 per person).
Yes, Wilderness Bisate Lodge provides free Wi-Fi throughout the property, allowing guests to stay connected between activities and adventures.
