Manchewe Waterfalls Tours 2027: Costs and How to Visit

Last updated: October 2026

Manchewe Waterfalls Tours 2027 are usually part of a Livingstonia, Lake Malawi, or wider East Africa route. Listed 2027 prices include £13,204 per person for a large overland safari and NZD 14,895 for a 22-day East African Odyssey. Plan around an organised hike, and compare wider Malawi packages before booking.

Manchewe Waterfalls Tours 2027 connect a highland walk near Livingstonia with one of northern Malawi's best-known waterfalls. Manchewe Falls is about 125 metres high, according to a travel guide that lists it among Malawi's notable places. The visit is usually part of a wider route, rather than a short waterfall-only excursion.

That difference matters when you compare prices. A £13,204 overland trip and a NZD 14,895 East African tour include many days of travel beyond the falls. A wider Malawi package may also combine the waterfall area with Chitimba and Lake Malawi.

This guide explains what the 2027 listings show, how the visit fits into a Malawi route, and what to check before you pay. It also separates a direct waterfall visit from the cost of a long overland holiday. That distinction can save you from comparing unlike trips.

Quick answer: Manchewe Falls is a Livingstonia-area hike in northern Malawi. In 2027, published examples include £13,204 per person for an Absolute Africa small-group overland safari and NZD 14,895 for a 22-day East African Odyssey. A standalone waterfall price is not included in those listings, so ask for a tailored Malawi quote.

What are Manchewe Waterfalls Tours 2027?

Manchewe Waterfalls Tours 2027 are organised visits to Manchewe Falls, often linked with Livingstonia and a larger northern Malawi itinerary. The main experience is a hike from camp towards Livingstonia and the falls. On The Go Tours describes this walk as part of its 22-day East African Odyssey.

Overview of the experience

Manchewe Falls is approximately 125 metres high. The waterfall sits in the Livingstonia area, where visitors can combine a walk with local history, highland views, and time near Lake Malawi. The setting gives the visit more depth than a quick roadside photo stop.

Manchewe Waterfalls is best understood as one stop within a northern Malawi journey. The wider route may include the Livingstonia Beach area, Chitimba, and other parts of Lake Malawi. These links help you compare the waterfall with nearby travel ideas before choosing a package.

Key features

• A waterfall about 125 metres high.
• A hike connected with Livingstonia rather than only a standalone excursion.
• Possible links with Chitimba and Lake Malawi.
• Access through wider Malawi, East Africa, or southern Africa overland routes.
• A strong fit for travellers who enjoy walking and multi-stop trips.

Livingstonia is the key place name to look for when reading an itinerary. The village sits in the hills above northwestern Lake Malawi and is known for its cooler climate and historic setting. A Manchewe visit therefore works well for travellers who want a cultural stop alongside a short outdoor adventure.

Why it matters: Manchewe Falls gives a northern Malawi route a clear walking goal. The trip is impressive, but the long distances in wider overland tours may not suit every traveller. A shorter, tailored itinerary may be a better choice if the waterfall is your main reason for visiting.

What do Manchewe Waterfalls Tours cost in 2027?

Manchewe Waterfalls Tours do not have one simple 2027 price. Published offers place the falls inside much longer journeys, so the price reflects transport, accommodation, meals, guides, border crossings, and other stops. The clearest listed examples are £13,204 per person and NZD 14,895 per person.

Published 2027 price examples

The Absolute Africa price comes from a small-group overland safari with a confirmed January 16, 2027 departure. The listing includes Manchewe Falls as part of a much broader route. It is therefore a route price, not a ticket for a short waterfall visit.

On The Go Tours lists its East African Odyssey at NZD 14,895. The 22-day itinerary includes a hike from camp to Livingstonia and Manchewe Falls. This option suits travellers who want a long regional trip, rather than people who only want to visit northern Malawi.

SafariFind data also places Likhubula Falls tour packages at £2,790 per adult in 2027. That package may include Manchewe Waterfalls within a wider Malawi trip. Treat it as a useful comparison point, not as a confirmed direct Manchewe entrance price.

What changes the final cost?

Route length is the biggest cost factor. A 22-day East African tour includes far more travel than a local day trip. A Cape Town-to-Serengeti overland route can include Chitimba and Lake Malawi as one section of a much longer journey.

• Transport: Long overland routes cost more because they cover many countries and stops.
• Accommodation: Camping, lodge stays, and room sharing can change the total.
• Guide support: A guided hike may be built into the package price.
• Meals: Check which meals the operator includes each day.
• Trip length: A waterfall stop inside 22 days costs more than a local excursion.

The listed offers price wider trips, not a verified standalone waterfall ticket. Ask for the exact inclusions before booking. Check transport to Livingstonia, the guide, meals, accommodation, park or site charges, and any Lake Malawi stay.

How do you plan a Manchewe Waterfalls visit?

Plan a Manchewe Waterfalls visit by choosing a Livingstonia-based route first, then checking transport, hiking time, accommodation, and the full package cost. The waterfall is usually presented as part of a hike and wider northern Malawi journey. That means the route matters as much as the falls.

Getting started

1. Choose whether you want a local Malawi trip or a long overland safari.
2. Search for Livingstonia, Manchewe Falls, Chitimba, and Lake Malawi in the itinerary.
3. Check the exact 2027 departure date and trip length.
4. Ask what the price includes before comparing it with another package.
5. Read recent reviews and confirm the operator's experience with walking routes.

Malawi gives you a useful starting point for building a wider trip. You can pair the north with a wildlife stay, a lake break, or a mountain route. For example, the Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve and Chintheche can help shape a longer Malawi plan, while Manchewe remains the northern walking stop.

Best practices for the hike

Wear shoes with good grip. Waterfall paths can include uneven ground, and wet surfaces need care. Carry drinking water, sun protection, and a light rain layer. A local guide can also help with route choices and timing.

Ask the operator how the hike begins. The On The Go itinerary describes a walk from camp to Livingstonia and Manchewe Falls. That detail matters because the walk may not start at the waterfall itself. Confirm the meeting point, walking distance, return plan, and vehicle support.

Build in spare time around the hike. Northern Malawi travel can involve long road sections, especially when Chitimba and Lake Malawi are part of the same itinerary. One wider route combines the Manchewe area with Chitimba and a Lake Malawi stay.

Nearby places to add

• Sapitwa for travellers who want another Malawi walking experience.
• Zomba Plateau for a southern highland stop.
• Mount Mulanje for a larger mountain hiking plan.
• Williams Falls for another waterfall idea.
• Chizumulu Island for a Lake Malawi island extension.

Keep the plan realistic. Manchewe Falls, Livingstonia, and Lake Malawi can create a rewarding route, but adding too many distant stops can leave little time for walking. Choose one main goal for each travel day, then let the operator build the transfers around it.

SafariFind can help you compare verified operators and read authentic reviews before you book. Request a quote that names Manchewe Falls clearly, rather than assuming every Livingstonia or northern Malawi package includes it.

Which travellers suit a Manchewe Falls tour?

Manchewe Falls suits travellers who enjoy short hikes, highland scenery, and multi-stop Malawi routes. It is less suitable for visitors seeking a simple resort transfer or a guaranteed waterfall-only ticket. The best package matches the walking level and travel pace you want.

Best for

Hikers can use the falls as a clear goal within a Livingstonia walk. Overland travellers can include the stop during a longer southern or East African route. Lake Malawi visitors can combine the falls with Chitimba and nearby lake time.

Best for cultural travel: Livingstonia adds history and a cooler highland setting to the day. Lonely Planet describes the village as being high in the hills above northwestern Lake Malawi. This makes the visit more than a waterfall stop.

Less suitable for: travellers who need a short, fixed-price excursion with no long transfer. The clearest published offers place Manchewe Falls inside journeys lasting many days. A custom Malawi itinerary may work better for a short holiday.

What to ask before booking

• Is Manchewe Falls definitely included in the 2027 itinerary?
• Where does the hike start?
• How long does the walking section take?
• Does the price include a guide and transport?
• Which meals and nights are included?
• Does the route visit Chitimba or Lake Malawi?
• What happens if rain changes the walking plan?

These questions help you compare like with like. A high-priced overland safari may include many countries and weeks of travel. A lower-priced Malawi package may focus on one region. Neither is automatically better. The right choice depends on whether Manchewe is your main goal or one stop on a larger adventure.

Conclusion

Manchewe Waterfalls Tours 2027 are best planned as a Livingstonia hiking experience within a northern Malawi route. The falls are about 125 metres high, and published trips place them inside wider journeys rather than a simple waterfall-only excursion.

The clearest prices are £13,204 per person for an Absolute Africa overland safari departing January 16, 2027, and NZD 14,895 for a 22-day East African Odyssey. A Likhubula Falls package at £2,790 per adult offers another Malawi comparison point, but its exact Manchewe inclusions need checking.

Choose a package that states the hike, transport, guide, accommodation, meals, and Lake Malawi stops. Read reviews before you decide, especially if the route includes long road sections. Compare a wider 2027 Malawi itinerary if you want to add wildlife to the trip.

Compare verified safari packages on SafariFind and request a 2027 Manchewe Falls quote from a trusted operator. In 2027, the strongest plan will balance the waterfall walk with realistic travel time across Malawi.
