Walk through African forests with guides to find wild chimpanzees, usually spending up to an hour observing a habituated group.
Best time
June to September and December to February are generally the easiest months for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda and Rwanda. Mahale, Tanzania, is commonly best from June to October. Rainforest conditions vary by site.
Typical duration
Most chimpanzee treks take 2 to 6 hours, with about 1 hour spent observing the chimpanzees. Kibale habituation is a full-day experience.
