An unforgettable experience

We recently went on a 5 day Safari excursion to Mikumi and Ruaha in Tanzania with Kihindo Tours & Safaris. We can confidently say this was the most surreal and exhilarating experiences of our lives. The organisation was seamless; Winnie was extremely helpful as she was the main point of contact even prior to our arrival. The Experience: Our adventure began from the moment we were picked up by our guide, William from our hotel in Dar Es Salaam in the morning and went on a 5-hour drive to Mikumi. We found the drive insightful as you get to see different parts of Tanzania and its rich culture. The Jeep itself was very comfortable and spacious, we had plenty of water to drink in the car and stopped half way on our journey for a delicious lunch (buffet style). We arrived in Mikumi in the afternoon and headed straight to the national park where we saw various animals such as lions, zebras, giraffes, elephants and antelopes! William was very knowledgable and very passionate about wildlife and welcomed our curious questions. We proceeded to Ruaha Hilltop Lodge the next day following an early morning drive around Mikumi National Park. We spent the whole of the next day in Ruaha National Park; this was by far our favourite experience as the park itself is one of the largest in the country. Our favourite part was that it felt completely untouched and less touristy. We would drive around for a long period without seeing other Safari Jeeps! We were very lucky too as we saw 4 of the big 5 in what felt like the most natural habitat. Being in what felt like the only ones amongst these majestic creatures along with the owe-filled-silences observing them is a memory that will stay with us forever. As you are looking out for the big 5, we would also recommend tuning in on the birds (there are over 500 bird species!) and we saw everything from eagles, vultures to the smallest kind with remarkable chirps. Additionally, the ecosystem is very diverse with savannahs, woodlands, river-systems and baobabs. Not only are the guides informative, they are also impressively attentive to afar animals! Accommodation: Kihindo Tours arranged our accommodations in Mikumi (Camp Bastien Mikumi) and Ruaha (Ruaha Hilltop Lodge). Camp Bastien was beautiful and had lovely cottage style accommodation, swimming pool and a large outdoor sitting area complete with a fire pit in the middle. It was a wonderful way to unwind following the Safaris. Ruaha Hilltop Lodge is perched on a hilltop and offers the most breathtaking panoramic scenery of Ruaha (national park included). The lodge had spacious bungalows and we had to walk up the hill to get to ours! You are escorted to and from your accommodation by a member of staff as they are separate from the main lounge, dining area. The lodges were beautiful, luxurious, comfortable and spacious. The staff were very kind and the food extremely delicious (all buffet style). Final Thought: This safari felt like a journey into nature that left us in awe of the beauty and complexity of wildlife. It is at a reasonable cost (cheaper than some of the safaris we looked into) for what is offered (pick up from and to hotels/airports, Safari excursions, meals, experienced guide for the duration of your journey etc). I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to connect with the great outdoors. Pack your walking shoes, comfortable clothing (including a jumper or 2 as the mornings and evenings are slightly chilly), camera and binoculars be prepared for the most extraordinary adventure!

We found the Kihindo Tours on Google and read a few rewievs about it and decide to book it. It was amazing! We landed in dar es Salaam and slept a Night in a Hostel Near By. In the Morning Eric our guide picked us up und droved us to the nyerere national Park. The Lodge was huge and lunch was directly Served. After that we had a boat Safari. The next day we started early in the Morning for the Game Drive. Lunchboxes were with us and we had always breakfast and Dinner! All of the staff from the Lodge were so nice and we really felt comfortable and they took good care of us! Everything was pretty good Organizee. Big big thanks to eric, he was so nice! Incredible!

Kihindo Tours was truly the best, from booking to drop off. Winnie and team ensured we had all the information needed and organised the safari tour to run smoothly. We literally didnt have to lift a finger, we were taken from the hotel to train station and then train station to Mikumi for the safari. Saloniki was a great tour guide, cheerful and passionate! Was very knowledge about the animals, Mikumi and the surrounding national parks. Food was great, very fresh! Got to see giraffes, hippos, monkeys, elephants and lions! Shine in life like Shine and drive like Jackson!

I recently went on a safari tour in Mikumi National Park, and it was an unforgettable experience! The park itself is stunning — wide open landscapes, beautiful light, and an incredible variety of wildlife. We were lucky enough to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, wildebeest, and even a group of hippos relaxing In the water. The guides Shine and Jackson were excellent – friendly, clear, and very knowledgeable. They spotted wildlife easily and shared fascinating information about each species. The tour was well organized, comfortable, and respectful of nature. The only part that could be better is the long eay fron Dar es Salaam but you can have it perfect. I recommend this safari to anyone visiting Tanzania — great wildlife, great guides, and a truly memorable adventure!

Our safari with Kihindo Tours and Safaris to the Mikumi National Park in Tanzania was perfect! Everything was planned out very well and the communication before/during the trip was really good. We stayed in wonderful accommodations and the food was really good! It was a really good price and included everything! We had an absolutely incredible 2-day safari! Our guide was so kind and made us feel safe throughout the entire trip. Thanks to their amazing intuition and sense of timing, we were able to see all the animals we hoped for. We were even lucky enough to witness a rare scene—a lion eating its prey! Amazing safari experience with the nicest team!

My colleague and I did 2days-1night tour with Kihindo Tours. Micheal, our tour guide, is no doubt one of the nicest people ever! He was very knowledgeable, answered all our questions with his smiley face, explained to us a lot about Tanzania and the Tanzanian culture, and of course showed us all the animals we hoped to see. We got so lucky and were able to see lions (even a hunting one), elephants, giraffes, crocodile, hippos,.. and even a leopard! We definitely feel very very lucky to have Micheal as our tour guide! Winnie had been so nice throughout the whole before-after the tour process. She helped us a lot during the booking, always checked on us if everything was okay during the safari. She even met us at our hotel at 4am when the car came to pick us up! Peter drove us back to our hotel in Dar Es Salaam. It was really interesting to talk to him as we learned a lot from him about the Tanzanian culture, families, music, etc. Overall, we highly recommend Kihindo Tours! Amazing 3 days Safari with our fantastic guide William

We did a 3 days private safari to Nierere Park with William. Everything was very well organised by kihindo Tours and Safaris (for instance transport and accomodation, Mloka lodge). Safari was fantastic, we saw so many animals, thanks to our incredible guide (William). He’s been always kind, available for any question and to explain us animals, plants, traditions of Tanzania. My boyfriend and I went on Safari in Mikumi National park from February 16th to February 18th. Everything was perfect from the train ride from Dar Es Salaam, the drive to Mikumi, accommodation and of course the game drive. From the time we booked our trip we had dialog with Winnie, who made sure we were well prepared for our trip ahead. She sent ut so much information about what to pack and expect on our trip. We also had dialog with her during our trip, which made everything feel so safe and she was always available to answer any question and help us if needed. We were lucky to get to know Michael who drove us from the strain station to Mikumi, and back again. He was such a nice guy, who taught us a lot about the national park and answered any question we would have. Our game driver Jackson was also super nice, and he made sure we got to experience and see as much as possible during our drive.
