Beautiful Mokoro Tour to the Okavango Delta

We had a very beautiful mokoro tour to the Okavango Delta with Shipungo this November! Communication was friendly and professional, and so were our guides (Sanny and Top Gun)! We were picked up on time at our hotel, transferred to the mokoro station near Maun by car and had a quite long mokoro tour (including a game walk on an island). Lunch and drinks were provided and delicious, and we got to see and learn about a lot of typical animals in the area - so nothing to complain about :)

Perfect one day Trip to Moremi from Maun

The communication with shipungo was friendly, Professional and easy. Our Guide Voice picked us up perfectliy on time and was very friendly. He was a Professional Guide and made the day to something special for us. Highlights of our Trip were a hunting female Lion, some Male Lion, a cheetah, Lots of elefants, giraffes, buffalos, and and and and... We can highly recommend the Day Tour with shipungo when You are short in Time or You don't Like to Camp..

Unforgettable Safari with an Amazing Team!

We were on an amazing 7-day mobile safari with Shipungo, and we cannot recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived, our guide, Kem, and the crew – Shine, Left, and Keji – made sure everything was taken care of. Kem was a great guide, sharing his knowledge of the wildlife. We saw an incredible variety of animals up close, making every game drive a new adventure. The crew worked seamlessly to make sure everything ran smoothly. One of the highlights was the delicious and diverse food they managed to prepare it exceeded our expectations. What really stood out was how well they cared for us when my partner got sick. We were far from civilization, but they arranged for medicine to be delivered, which was no easy task. We had such a great time that we would absolutely do it again – and with the same crew! Thank you, Kem, Shine, Left, and Keji, for making this safari such a memorable adventure.

totally relaible. flexibility. custumer oriented. the whole team great. very good food. Costa the guide dedicated full time in finding game in the reserves. transportation Ok in a very good state Land Cruiser. very good mood and attitude of the whole team. except for an excess delay in pick-up after a mokora ride, the 5 days safari was excellent. I would recommend it.

Great adventure with good value

Traveled for 9 days with guide Kem and crewman KG/OT and an amazing cook Shine. We covered a lot of ground saw amazing sittings of Cheerah with cubs, leopards, hyenas with cubs, wild dog with pups ets etc. we plan on going with them again next year. We covered chobe, Savuti, Khai and Moremi My only negative which is fixable- more blankets for the tent and lap blankets for the car

5 day epic bush camping

Shipungo were able to accomodate our last minute plan to visit Botswana and designed a 5 day camping trip to perfectly suit our interests and the locations we were interested in. The three person field team were exceptional - our guide Carlos was terrifically experienced with local knowledge of all the areas visited. Simon, the camp chef prepared a perfect pitch of food and with the field assistant provided a great camp set up every time. Thanks to all for sharing so much and making our trip so memorable.

Game / guide great, food did not meet quoted standard

We undertook a 6-day five-night Safari for three adults and three children opting for package B out of three choices. The difference between A and B was the provision of toilet/shower enclosure behind the tents and an enhanced meal package. Although the food provided was good, it fell well short of that outlined in the itinerary. Cereal and scrambled egg for breakfast, no brunch, a cooked lunch, no afternoon tea and only a one course evening meal not the three advertised i.e soup, main and sweet . Only on one evening we did had a sweet. Particularly disappointing was the absence from the package of the night drive. When I raised this with Mark on our return, he " express(ed) our sincere apologies for the mix-up- it was our mistake and we are completely responsible for it" . He stated that our guide Voice, who was absolutely great, had said we were not keen to do the night drive. In fact I had asked about it and was told it had not been arranged. "For meals we will refund you $350." I pointed out that the difference between the two packages amounted to around $1,600 and that in fact our meal package did not even meet the standard set out in package A, but did include the toilet/shower enclosure which surely didn't amount to $1,600? Mark's final response was " the camping standard was the one you booked and you were not happy about the standard of the food which was breakfast" despite his earlier acknowledgement and apology. The game drives themselves were excellent but that would have been the case whoever we had booked as the area itself was fantastic.

Great operator, but much of the experience hinges on local guides, not the tour company.

Very responsive operator...we texted and figured out details over the weekend just before the safari. The pickup service was prompt and friendly, and the vehicle was comfortable. Meals were as expected for the price—basic but tasty. The tent was also as expected. One thing to be aware of is that the “polers” and guide are part of the village community and they are assigned from a rotating list. Thus, as I understood, the boat operators and tour guides (who also help with camp requirements) can be hit-or-miss. Ours were very friendly and knew what they were doing (good empirical / local knowledge) but not stellar on technical knowledge and customer experience. The Shipungo staff was great, though. Overall it was an amazing experience.

3 days in Okavango Delta very well organized with no time lost and lot of animals seen !

Communications was really good and smooth. We spent 3 days in Okavango Delta with my daughters and my wife. It was our 1st experience in the amazing region. We choose: 1/ 1 day game drive at Moremi Game park, very long day with lot of animals, 2/ 1 day Mokoro experience, very local experience, be careful with the sun, 3/ 1 day Motor boat full day in Delta, few animals but very beautiful scenary with a very impressive driver in the Delta "water" roads!!. If we would have to do it again, we will spend one more day at Moremi Game Park: this park is really big and you can not see most of it in only day.

Fantastic Game drive in Moremi

For a safari through the Moremi Game Reserve we can highly recommend Shipungo Safari & Tours with its guide and driver Thata. It was wonderful and nature sensitive, we learned a lot about the local animals and plants. We had a very nice experience and saw a lot without disturbing the wild animals too much. We can only recommend this company.

Mark was very kind to arrange a last-minute tour for us.

Overall we had a good experience. The safari vehicle certainly felt every bump! Kem, our guide for the day, took good care of us and showed us a lot of animals. We are unused to the constant radio contact between drivers and converging on the same spots, but it did mean having close-up views of a cheetah and many lions. We had value for our money.

Our safari experience with Shipungo was truly unforgettable. First of all, when planning, Mark is responsive and will listen to your demands to build a tailored safari based on your wishes and budget. Then, our guide's expertise in locating the famous Savuti Marsh Pride lions was remarkable. Kem worked seamlessly with other guides in the park to ensure we had the best sightings. We were thrilled to see a wide range of animals, including a majestic leopard. The team took exceptional care of us throughout our stay. They set up very comfortable tents equipped with beds and a toilet, ensuring we had a pleasant and convenient camping experience. Chef Shine and Left prepared delicious meals that we enjoyed immensely after our morning and afternoon drives. The entire safari was a perfect blend of adventure and comfort. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience

Spent 3 & 1/2 days wild camping in Moremi with Voice as our guide, very well assisted by Jonah, Left and KG in camp. It was cold at times so dress warm in the winter months. We all really enjoyed our time and felt very safe and well looked after. The food back in camp was very good too. Highly recommended if you’re looking for something a little different to the usual lodge experience. It was full on and tiring, so feel free to request a siesta more often if required.

Flexible to our needs with friendly, helpful staff

We had a great time in Botswana, camping and canoeing in the Okavango Delta with Mokoro and walking safaris. Saw lots of wildlife and learnt a lot from our guides. Mark was very helpful in arranging extra transport and visits for us, thank you Mark!

Mokoro Tour - Amazing experience

In October 2019 my wife and I did a 3 day (2 nights) Mokoro tour with Shipungo Safari & Tours in the Okavango Delta. Starting with the excellent organization, our experienced poler and guide with whom we had amazing experiences on our tours and the camp staff who i.a. prepared great food for us, we were very satisfied. We were also lucky not to have to share the camp with any other fellow travellers (in contrast to other tour operators who do such tours with 20 people). We would book again via Shipungo at any time and can highly recommend the company.
