Entebbe Safari Packages 2027: Prices and Day Trips

Last updated: October 2026

One Uganda safari package can cost £450 for a sponsored child safari or $37,995 for an 11-day luxury trip.

Entebbe Safari Packages 2027: Prices and Day Trips range from $20 canoe rides and $40 shared shoebill tours to multi-day Uganda safaris costing $15,985 or more. Entebbe is the main arrival point for trips to Murchison Falls, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi, and Kidepo. Mabamba shoebill trips start around 6:00 to 7:00 a.m., while longer safaris need several days.

What are Entebbe safari packages in 2027?

Entebbe safari packages in 2027 are tours that start in or near Entebbe, Uganda's main arrival base, then continue to a wetland, forest, wildlife reserve, or national park. Options include short Mabamba shoebill trips, family charity safaris, and long journeys to Murchison Falls, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi, or Kidepo.

Entebbe is useful because you can begin with a day trip soon after your flight. You can also spend one night in town before a driver takes you inland. That makes the city a practical starting point, even when the main wildlife experience happens several hours away.

Known for: easy starts and flexible trip lengths

Entebbe is known for flexible safari planning. A half-day canoe trip can fit between flights or follow a short city stay. A 3-day budget route can add Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and Murchison Falls. A 10-day or 12-day route can reach several parks and include primate tracking.

Mabamba Swamp is the clearest short-trip example. Shared group tours cost $40 to $60 per person. A private tour for two costs $100 to $150. A canoe ride from the landing site costs $20 to $30, while a local guide fee costs $10 to $20.

Mabamba tours commonly leave between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. The early start matters because shoebills are most active in the morning. The trip usually works as a half-day activity, leaving time for an afternoon transfer or another Entebbe plan.

Why the starting point matters

Entebbe helps you control travel time. You can choose a short local experience, then return to the same base. Or you can begin a full circuit and avoid adding a separate city stop later. Your choice depends on your budget, flight schedule, and interest in primates, birds, or big game.

Uganda offers very different safari settings within one country. Uganda safari packages may include forest walks, boat rides, game drives, or community visits. That mix is a strong reason to compare the full route before booking.

Best for: first-time visitors and mixed-interest groups

Entebbe packages are best for travelers who want a simple start. Families can choose a guided route with a set price. Birdwatchers can focus on Mabamba. Wildlife fans can add Murchison Falls or Queen Elizabeth. Visitors who want primates can continue to Kibale or Bwindi.

Step Up Family Organisation lists a 2027 adult price of £2,300 for travelers aged 12 and above. Its child price is £1,900 for children aged 2 and above. The organisation also lists a sponsored child safari at £450. These tours suit travelers aged six and above, while younger children may also be welcomed.

How much do Entebbe safari packages cost in 2027?

Entebbe safari packages cost $20 for a canoe ride, $40 to $60 for a shared Mabamba tour, $325 per day for a listed 3-day budget itinerary, and $4,800 to $37,995 per person for longer safari programs. The final price depends on duration, parks, accommodation, permits, flights, and group size.

Price range by trip type

The table shows why one average safari price can mislead you. A local birding trip uses a canoe and guide. A gorilla safari adds permits, long transfers, lodges, and park fees. Compare each package by what it includes, not by the headline price alone.

What longer packages include

Beyond Africa lists a 10-day Uganda itinerary at $4,800 per person sharing. The price includes an $800 gorilla permit, park fees, lodge accommodation, and a charter flight between Entebbe and Kidepo. The route includes time in Entebbe, Bwindi or Murchison, Kibale or Queen Elizabeth, and Kidepo.

Travelstride lists a 12-day small-group Uganda tour with a $5,110 price. The itinerary starts with arrival and an overnight stay in Entebbe. It then continues to Kibale Forest, Bigodi Swamp, and chimpanzee tracking.

AfricanMecca lists a 12-day itinerary covering Entebbe, Murchison Falls, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, and Bwindi from $15,985. Another 12-day itinerary covers Entebbe, Semliki, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, and Bwindi from $13,855.

These prices show a wide gap between a small-group trip and a high-end private journey. The route, room level, transfers, permits, and flight plan explain much of that gap. Ask for a clear list of inclusions before you compare two packages.

Luxury pricing in 2027

Abercrombie & Kent lists an 11-day Uganda Gorilla Trekking and Safari Adventure from $37,995 per person. The trip is limited to 16 guests and includes gorilla trekking, Murchison Falls, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, and Bwindi national parks.

This option suits travelers who want a high-end itinerary with a fixed route and a small guest limit. It is a very different product from a $40 Mabamba day trip. Both start within the Entebbe travel network, but they serve different needs.

How to read a safari quote

Check these details before you compare prices:

• Count the number of safari days and nights.
• Check whether the price is per person or per vehicle.
• Look for permits, park fees, meals, and lodge rooms.
• Confirm whether airport transfers and domestic flights are included.
• Check the number of guests sharing the vehicle.
• Ask whether the quote covers the exact 2027 travel dates.

Which Entebbe day trips are worth booking?

Mabamba Swamp is the strongest Entebbe day trip for a short wildlife experience. A shared tour costs $40 to $60 per person, while a canoe-only option costs $20 to $30. Start between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. to match the shoebill's early activity period.

Mabamba shoebill tour

Mabamba Swamp is best for birdwatchers and travelers with one free morning. The route uses a canoe through wetland channels. You may also book a private trip for two at $100 to $150. A local guide fee is listed at $10 to $20.

The early departure makes this trip easy to pair with an afternoon plan. It also gives you a better fit with the bird's known morning activity. Bring a light rain layer, sun cover, water, and a camera that works well at a distance.

How to build a longer route

A 3-day budget itinerary can connect Kampala, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Masindi, Murchison Falls National Park, and Entebbe. TourRadar lists this route at $325 per day, with a displayed discounted total of $976. The itinerary welcomes all ages.

That route suits travelers who want a quick taste of inland wildlife without booking a two-week trip. Murchison Falls adds a stronger national park focus, while Ziwa adds a rhino stop. Plan the final night near Entebbe if you have an early flight.

Masindi is useful as a gateway on this route. Read the Masindi safari destination guide when you want to understand how the town fits into a Murchison Falls journey.

Adding forests and primates

Kibale Forest is a good next step for travelers who want chimpanzee tracking. A 12-day small-group itinerary listed by Travelstride includes Kibale Forest, Bigodi Swamp, and chimpanzee tracking after an Entebbe overnight stay.

Travelers who want gorillas need a longer plan and a larger budget. Beyond Africa lists an $800 gorilla permit inside its $4,800, 10-day package. Gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking are different activities, so check which permit each quote includes.

For planning, use the Kibale Forest 2027 cost guide and the Bwindi gorilla permit guide. These pages help you compare a forest add-on with a full primate safari.

Other Entebbe add-ons

Some travelers prefer to add culture, forest, or lake time around the main safari. Kasubi Tombs can fit a Kampala city plan. Mabira Forest works for a forest stop. Ssese Islands suit visitors who want lake time after wildlife travel.

Explore the Kasubi Tombs destination page, the Mabira Forest guide, or the Ssese Islands guide before you add extra nights. Keep the route simple. Too many stops can turn a short trip into long hours on the road.

How should you plan an Entebbe safari for 2027?

Start by choosing the experience, then choose the route and budget. A Mabamba birding trip needs one morning. A gorilla and big-game journey needs several days, permits, lodge nights, and planned transfers. This order keeps your quote clear and prevents you from paying for places you do not want to visit.

Step 1: Choose your main wildlife goal

Pick one main goal before you compare packages. Shoebills point to Mabamba. Rhinos and waterfalls point toward the Murchison route. Chimpanzees point toward Kibale. Gorillas point toward Bwindi. Big-game variety may lead you toward Queen Elizabeth or Murchison Falls.

Uganda's routes cover very different travel experiences. The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest guide helps travelers planning gorilla trekking. The Fort Portal destination guide helps with western Uganda routes near forest and crater landscapes.

Step 2: Match the trip to your time

Use a half-day plan if your flight schedule is tight. Choose three days for a fast wildlife route. Choose 10 to 12 days if you want several parks, forest tracking, and slower transfers. The 11-day Abercrombie & Kent itinerary and the 12-day AfricanMecca options show how long a full circuit can take.

Families should check age rules and driving time. Step Up Family Organisation lists tours for people aged six and above, while younger children may also be welcomed. The listed 2027 prices are £2,300 for adults, £1,900 for children, and £450 for a sponsored child safari.

Step 3: Set your real budget

Set a total budget before you choose a lodge. Include the safari price, flights to Uganda, travel insurance, tips, meals outside the package, and personal spending. Then compare packages with the same trip length. A $4,800 ten-day trip is not a direct match for a $15,985 twelve-day itinerary.

Permits can affect the budget sharply. Beyond Africa includes an $800 gorilla permit in its listed price. That single item shows why a low headline rate may not include every major activity. Always look for permit and park-fee lines in the quote.

Step 4: Check the first and last night

Keep your first night near Entebbe when your flight arrives late. Keep your last night near the airport when your departure is early. This simple choice reduces pressure after a long drive. It also gives you time to handle flight changes without losing a full park day.

Travelstride's 12-day route starts with arrival and an overnight stay in Entebbe. TourRadar's 3-day route also includes Entebbe, making the city useful at both ends of a short itinerary.

Step 5: Compare operators and reviews

SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and authentic reviews. Use the marketplace to compare route details, package prices, and traveler feedback. Request a quote when you know your dates, group size, and main wildlife goal.

You can also compare related Uganda routes. Read the Katonga Wildlife Reserve 2027 package guide or the Kidepo Valley budget guide if your plans extend beyond Entebbe.

Conclusion

Entebbe safari packages in 2027 suit both short visits and full Uganda journeys. Mabamba offers a low-cost start at $20 for a canoe ride or $40 to $60 for a shared shoebill tour. A 3-day budget route shows a displayed total of $976. Longer trips cost more, with a 10-day option at $4,800 and luxury travel at $37,995 per person.

Choose Mabamba when you have one free morning. Choose Kibale, Bwindi, Murchison Falls, or Queen Elizabeth when you have several days. Compare permits, park fees, accommodation, transfers, and guest numbers before you pay.
