Excellent Mammal watching tour

I went on a 2 weeks private tour with Armaye as my guide in November/December 2023 and the organization was excellent. From the initial enquiry over the last few years! until I was safely back home, Armaye communicated quickly, clearly and accurately. He was very flexible with the itinerary too being open to amendments, which I did twice. This was my 2nd trip to Ethiopia and it was much better than my first one in 2009. My interest was mostly with mammals and planned my tour accordingly, which took me to Bale Mountains (Harenna Forest, Sannetti Plateue, Gassay), Hwassa, Lake Langano. Awash NP and Alideghe Game Reserve. I found all my key targets and the sightings were sensational. He even knew where to find a pack of the endangered Ethiopian Wolfs! His knowledge on where to find wildlife enabled me to get some great pictures and films. We had a very nice driver and, for a few days, also a brilliant cook and both spoke excellent English and were really good company. Additional guides with local knowledge were waiting for us where needed. All worked like a swiss clock and the only time I needed to use money was for some few personal expenses. I will for sure be back again as the country offers a lot. I could not recommend Armaye Tours more.

Amazing tour for Ethiopia

Armaye was patient, professional and responsive in the whole process. He answered a lot of detailed questions from me and made effort to tailor it to our needs. When Covid hit, we had to end our trip early and he was also very kind to refund part of the cost. Our driver was also super nice, always very patient and constantly thinking about our needs during the whole tour. They both speak great English and very easy to communicate to.

We booked 3 tours with Armaye: 4 days Omo valley tour, visiting tribes, one day tour from Addis Ababa to Debre Libanos, and 6 days Bale Mountains trekking. Everything was just simple perfect: good organization, good accomodations, good food, and very friendly welcome. We had an amazing time and were happy to learn a lot about Ethiopean lifestyle and culture. Armaye is the most reliable and prepared tour guide I have met in the last 20 years of traveling, that's for sure! Best value for money by far!!

Fantastic guide and very experient

Fantastic trip to Bale Mountains National 'Park, where we could see almost all rare and endemic mammal species in the area.

Armaye is wholly professional with flexibility to create unique itineraries and travel experiences.

I am a naturalist with an appetite to photograph endemic and vulnerable species. Armaye worked with me, awesome communication skills btw, to provide me with the appropriate destinations for the time I had available. Even with the challenges of the changing political climate during the trip, Armaye had the flexibility to make changes to lodgings, flights, destinations, etc. that still offered me the photo opportunities for which I had hoped and remain in budget. My travel plans placed me in Ethiopia during off-season for tourism, but I was rewarded with a unique insight into the natural world of that region during the rainy season. I am delighted by the many babies, juveniles, and family units that nature revealed to me, glimpsing some of the more elusive animals. The trade-off was that the trip did not coincide with migrations of birds, but the abundant numbers and varieties of resident species filled camera memory cards with animals I had never encountered. This was my first trip to the Horn of Africa. I was immersed in rural Ethiopia, but my professional guide and driver took good care to keep me safe. Of note, I do not have a palate for spicy food (I feel that cayenne pepper and curry is too spicy) so that was a challenge for me personally, but I planned for that inevitability and brought nuts, raisins, and crackers to sustain me.

Our 17 day tour was an experience we would recommend. The tour was well planned and covered many different areas of the country. The hotels were well chosen and comfortable. The guides were knowledgeable and helpful. We could not have made a better choice than Armaye Ethiopia Tours. They went well beyond what was expected. Our arrival was unfortunately delayed by two days. But when we arrived at 1:00am two days late, Armaye was at the airport waiting for us. And our tour had been reworked so we did not miss any of the high points. When I took ill (nothing to do with the tour or country), the guide made sure I got immediate care and treated me like a mother hen. We have traveled for many years to many places, but this would be one of the best tour operators we hav encountered.

Highly attentive and informed tour of the diverse Bale Mountains

Armaye was very communicable and attentive. Highly knowledgeable of (and passionate for) the country and its wildlife and culture. The trip itself showed the diversity of the Bale Mountains. From the wolves on the plain to the Bale monkeys in the forest. Good value for money, highly recommended!

Agile and responsive

I went to Ethiopia in January this year ('24). Wrote to Armaye and we arranged a tour quickly, all questions were answered quickly. But then my flight got cancelled and I had to arrive on another day. Armaye was able to reschedule the tour and make trip possible anyway. Respect for that. The tour itself was great. My guide was talkative and spared lot's of details on local life and nature. Also since people sometimes struggle for height in the mountains he checked my condition often. He also proposed different options for our routs based on my interest and desired difficulty. Provided food was tasty and portions were big, thanks to the chef. Would recommend travelling in Ethiopia with these guys.

A Great Introduction To The City

We did a full day Addis city tour with Armaye Tours and It was an amazing tour. Borook the tour guide was very knowledgeable, We got a lot of information about the culture and history of Ethiopia. I highly recommend this excursion!
