Unforgettable 3-Day Safari in Mikumi National Park with Kihindo Safari!

We just returned from the most incredible 3-day safari in Mikumi National Park, and it was nothing short of magical! Our guide, Michael, was truly outstanding – the heart and soul of this unforgettable experience. His knowledge of wildlife and the park’s ecosystem was unparalleled. He didn’t just show us the animals; he brought their stories to life with his insightful explanations and contagious enthusiasm. Thanks to Michael’s expertise and keen eye, we had the rare privilege of spotting not only majestic elephants, graceful giraffes, zebras, and lions but also elusive leopards and jackals – a true highlight of the trip! He knew exactly where to go and how to time everything perfectly to ensure we experienced the park at its very best. Michael’s ability to answer every question and share fascinating details made the safari even more enriching. Whether it was identifying birds, explaining the behavior of a lion pride, or describing how elephants interact with their environment, his passion and dedication were remarkable. We always felt safe, informed, and completely immersed in the beauty of the park. We also want to extend a big thank you to Winnie, whose warmth and helpfulness made the booking process so smooth and stress-free. Half day Mikumi game drive

Within a few minutes in the half day game drive with Salöniki and Nuhu as guides, we could see 4 lions (including the king) thinking about attacking buffalos. During the morning we have een many animals from a short distance (elephants, giraffes, buffalos, a king fisher, beautiful birds, elans, hippos, crocodiles and many more). Both guides could answere all our questions and explained us a lot about the animals. Just before the lunchtime, they got a call and imediatly went to a spot from where we could see the leopard hanging out on a tree. With him, we have seen all om4 of the big 5 that can be seen in Mikumi. After lunch on the way to the exit we could see two yung male lions sleeping from very close. It was an amazing experience, thanks a lot!

One day in animal paradise visit from Dar es Salaam

This was unexpectedly hilarious experience! The staff members of KIHINDO Tours and Safaris communicated with us immediately after we booked our trip. They organized the pick up from our hotel in Dar es Salaam and were always on time at each step of the trip to drive us between the hotel and the train station, and between the train station and the park. They took care of train travel reservations and booked business class tickets for us (by the way, a nearly two hour long train trip was amazing with stunning views, clean train, and kind stuff offering coffee, tea, and small bites for free). Michael drove us between the train station and the park. He was exceptionally kind and friendly; he told us useful information, drove very safely, and even took us to a souvenir store on our way back. In the park, Saloniki was our guide while Adam drove us safely and always stopped the truck whenever we wanted to admire wild animals moving around us. These guys knew exactly where to go to ensure the best animal views for us (we saw giraffes, elephants, zebras, and other animals just walking or running in front of or behind our truck). Saloniki shared with us interesting facts about all the encountered animals. They took us for lunch in the middle of our safari expedition and it was delicious! Buffet lunch with multiple options for both vegetarians and meat-lovers. They also provided bottled water while we were driving through the park. We had a morning game drive and an afternoon game drive after lunch. We even saw sleeping lions or hippos resting while submerged in a pond. We had limited time to visit safari and within one day we saw more than expected (over 12 wild animals!). We highly recommend this company for one-day safari trips if you’re visiting Dar es Salaam and neighboring areas. Very efficient and safe experience for a reasonable price - it’s a really good deal. The professionalism, reliability, and kindness of organizers were impressive! It was a safe and fun drive through a magnificent safari park. Hundreds of pictures and videos that we took will help us to keep valuable memories of this trip. Thank you KIHINDO Tours and Safaris for making our day so exciting and unforgettable! I’m just looking at the pictures from this trip and smiling. So precious! Worth every spent penny!

What an absolutely phenomenal once in a life time experience I had on the 2 day safari in the Mikumi national park. The quoting and booking process was stress free with the help from Pilly. She sent a detailed day to day document that was followed with even more unexpected surprises like going to the Mgogoro National snake park. Eddie and Meshack were our drivers to and from the Mgogoro train station and were very polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. Khindo will pick you up from any hotel or the airport in Dar es Salaam and drop you off at the SGR Dar es Salaam train station which both the train and the stations are brand new along the whole line. Nuhu was our safari guide for the game drive while Steve was our guide for the bush walking with the help of Nuhu. They are both Maasai warriors and have incredible unexplainable knowledge of the animals, plants, terrain, weather, natural resources, Tanzania and so so so much more. They both speak extremely good English and of course Swahili and Maa(Maasai language). Within the first 2-3 hours of our first morning game drive we saw the Big 4 at the park. 3 males Lions, Elephants, Water buffalo, and the extremely rare Leopard (unfortunately there are no Rhinos at Mikumi). I'm not kidding when I say I could have reached my hand out and pet 2 lions that brushed up against the Safari Jeep. We also saw hundreds of zebras, water buffalo, impalas, and many types of antelope. 2 highlights of the game drive were seeing the lion eating a water buffalo that they freshly hunted and being surrounded by over 20 Giraffes at 1 time. Day 2 was the bushwalking and Maasai village tour. Prepare to learn about things you couldn't possibly have previously thought about. Seeing the Small 4 insects. The different trees and what medicinal and practical uses the Maasai and the local population use them for. You will see small came on the bush walking like cattle, insects, birds, and antelopes. The big game is much further away and there is not much water near the hills so the prey and hunters gather near the water holes, so no need to fear of being eaten by a lion but even in a 1 in a billion chance there was some sort of dangerous game in the area I was fully and utterly confident in Steve and Nuhu to control the situation. They are Maasai WARRIORS they have lived in these habitats there whole life and know the "bush" like the back of their hands. If you are looking for souvenirs the Maasai village has a plethora of fully handmade jewelry, clothing, carvings, ect.... I cannot recommend Khindo, Pilly, Nuhu, Steve and the rest of the crew more. For the price of the trip and what you receive in return cannot possibly be replicated anywhere else with anyone else. I cannot say enough the accommodation factor of just going with the flow and not worrying about a thing water was covered, food was all inclusive and fantastic, traveling and plan of action all taken care of! For my Wazungu( White people) use your common sense you are going on a legit African Safari bring some sunscreen, sunhats, sunglasses, binoculars, walking shoes/boots, outdoor clothing. - Mzungu Maasai

From start to finish, this safari was absolutely outstanding! Communication was seamless, even before the trip, and the service was top-notch—everything was tailored to our needs. The value for money? A solid 12/10! 😅 We saw an incredible amount of wildlife and had what felt like a private tour, just the two of us, rather than being packed into a vehicle with ten others. On top of that, our driver had perfect timing, always getting us to the right spots at the right moment. You could truly tell he loved his job and knew the area inside out—he shared so much fascinating knowledge with us. Truly an exceptional experience—couldn’t be happier!

Isayah and the team were amazing! The transfer from the airport was super easy and they were super flexible and chill. When we got to the safari, the accommodation was far batter than expected (very spacious) and the food was fab - buffets for breakfast and lunch had a lot of options. The lunch provided for the Safari (from the restaurant or packed) was also great The Safari was amazing! The experience was awsome, but i think we were lucky to have the best guid in Tanzania. Michael is a very good driver who will drive you safely inside Tanzania. Also he will take care of you and try to make your experience unbelievable. Also, with Michael, you won’t just look some animals, you will learn A LOT about savanna and wild life, thanks to his knowledge that he share with passion.
