Perfect safari, exceptional service.

Fellow travelers, I recently returned from a 14 day birdwatching tour covering wide swaths of Uganda. Having been to several East African nations in the past, I was attracted to Uganda because birdwatching wise the country borders both the Eastern countries of Kenya and Tanzania as well as Central African nations such as the Congo and Rwanda. The result provides the opportunity to build an amazing list of special bird species. I found Moroka Expeditions online and was immediately impressed by the glowing reviews from past clients. I sent my proposed tour dates and goals to Moroka director Abraham Kyagulanyi and he quickly responded with a detailed itinerary covering a rather large portion of his nation. Abraham listened well to my request for modest accommodations and long birding days. I also let him know that I was still recovering from a rather gruesome leg injury and would be limited in my mobility. And in fact I was compelled to push back on my start date due to my prolonged recovery: all of which Abraham handled with grace and kindness. With great good fortune Abraham assigned William Kyeswa to be my guide and driver. A finer guide, driver, companion you will never meet! Both gentlemen greeted me at Entebbe Airport upon arrival from Chicago by way of Addis Ababa and escorted me to my nearby accommodations on the shores of Lake Victoria. A note about the lodges, hotels throughout my stay; all were completely reasonable cost wise and were uniformly immaculately clean, quiet and comfortable. So very well done gentlemen! Another thing I appreciated about my Ugandan lodging was all served simple and delicious fare. Ugandan meals are all prepared to order using local ingredients, simple, hearty and filling. The locally sourced coffee and teas were both welcome components of each meal. While I won't be able to recant my complete itinerary in this space, we started with a bang on day one with gobsmacking views of one of the most spectacular birds in the world, the incomparable Shoebill Stork! Truly one of the most amazing birds you will ever see. As we progressed I soon became aware of one of Williams' special gifts to birders like me. Though my man has seen the vast majority of his nation's bird species as well as knowing their particular songs and micro habitats, William leaves nothing to chance: he has cultivated a wide network of local guides and rangers, many of whom he has personally trained, who by virtue of living on site seem to know in which exact tree or shrub to find some of these very tricky species. And to me that's like a birding superpower! I reckon that if I were to walk those forest paths alone I would not have recorded half the impressive trip list I did with team William. Of course I certainly didn't turn my nose up at the many incredible wildlife viewing experiences we had in some of the awesome National Parks like Murchison Falls NP, Queen Elizabeth NP, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP, and even the smallest, Lake Mburo NP. With rather too much optimism I did pre-book Chimpanzee and Gorilla trekking given my infirmities and I was able to marvel at a mighty troop of Pan tryglotes at rather closer proximity than felt comfortable I unfortunately had to dip out on the Mountain gorilla trek. However with William's deep knowledge and the added resources of men who literally were born and raised in the park we were able to see some of the mountain's most coveted species of birds. I can't finish this review without praising Abraham's incredible organizational skills. Not only was he able to move the whole tour two weeks while I recovered he was willing and able to switch things around when for example we were planning on one night at the amazing Eagle's Nest Lodge but I just fell in love with the place and asked if we could add a night while cutting the same at our next stop. And he was willing and able to accommodate my wishes. And believe me folks, that's a level of excellent service I have never seen in all my years of travel. I will unconditionally recommend Moroka Expeditions to any birder, photographer, nature lover. Lastly I am left with incredible appreciation of my impression that the people of Uganda are the most kind, gracious and charming of any I have ever met in my life. The joy is infectious! I always felt welcome and safe. No matter anyone's personal circumstances, Uganda is truly a joyous nation. Go see for yourself and give William and Abraham my kindest regards. Great trip, good communications and expert guides

I spent 5 days with Abraham and Moses from Moroka expeditions. They were very knowledgeable and we saw so much in a short period of time. From Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Elephants, Hippos, Buffalo. We also had some great cultural experiences. Would definitely recommend and will be back again!

In addition to transportation and sight-seeing, they arranged accommodations, meals, and time to relax at a really nice pool. Abraham was wonderfully responsive and clear in his communications about the trip! Perfect 4-day experience in Kidepo valley

I went with Moroka Expeditions to 4-day Kidepo valley trek this October and I can recommend them to everyone. All the things were perfectly organized - they picked me up at the hotel and everything was very smooth during the whole trip. I also wanted to visit some local community and they also organized that. My guide William was friendly, professional and also very knowledgable - he is the birdwatcher but knows a lot about all kinds of animals and it was great to learn something new with each trip to the park. Also the car was in top condition which is a necessity in the park and Karamoja region (it is not always like that with other companies as I found out on other trips). Thanks a lot to the whole team and especially William for allowing me to do this trip. Hopefully it was not the last time I visited this region.

He was really good and gave us a satisfactory experience

We had great views of many many animals, including giraffes, elephants, Rhino, warthog, water bucks, name it, and at real close range. We did not however get to see the lions and leopards. Otherwise, we were excited of what we saw and of course we took lots of pictures. The guides - Abraham and another, were very patient & conversant with the characteristics of every animal. The whole safari was a refreshing experience and I recommend anyone else to venture to it too. You will love it

Abraham is reliable, responsible, intelligent, and courteous.

I had an incredible experience. I wish i had gone there first .After a week on another tour, I was tired and hot. But the experience provided by Moroka was fantastic and Abraham made sure my trip was safe and eventful. I will cherish the memories. One caveat, if you enter from Kenya on an East African visa make sure the people in Kenya stamp your passport.

The experience in the Mabamba swamp area was amazing. Lots of birds to be seen and fotographed. And finally we also found the famous shoebill. The tourguides were very competent and friendly. Really can recommend to visit as I really enjoyed my trip.

Simply perfect

I had an amazing experience with Moroka experience, they organized 2 days in the volcanos national park in Rwanda to see the gorillas the first day and the golden monkeys the second. Then another 2 days in akagera National park also on Rwanda. Both felt like a dream, those places are just incredibly wonderful, my guides were absolutely amazing lovely people with great knowledge of the places and animals we were seeing, they took great care of me and I can’t thank them enough! As a solo femme traveler, I can definitely recommend. The lodges and hotels were great, absolutely zero complaints. Thank you for these unforgettable moments 💖

It’s a perfect choice for the gorilla trekking. Finding gorillas while trekking in the jungle was such a wonderful and thrilled experience for sure. We also could explore Uganda to the max on the side of the trekking. It’s definitely an amazing country that has lots to offer. Our guide Henry was very professional, warm hearted, fun, and he took care of us and solve problems at all times through the tour. Pefect experience

I had an amazing 3-day/2-night trip from Kigali to Uganda, with gorilla trekking and a visit to Lake Bunyonyi. Everything was perfectly organized—always on time, and exactly as planned. A huge thanks to Albert, the manager, who was extremely prompt on WhatsApp, answering all my questions quickly. Our driver, Gerald, was excellent—he drove safely, helped with everything, and spoke very good English, making communication easy. The gorilla trekking was one of the best experiences of my life. The hike wasn’t easy, but it was absolutely worth it. It’s not a cheap activity, but compared to other options, this was the most affordable I found. Once you see how well everything is organized—the number of people involved, the permits, and how smoothly it all runs—you realize every euro is well spent. Lake Bunyonyi was one of the most beautiful lakes I’ve visited. The boat tour was very enjoyable, and the views were stunning. Uganda is one of the nicest countries I have visited (and I’ve been to 85). The people are incredibly friendly, and as a vegan, I had no trouble finding food. Highly recommended!

Gorilla trekking in Uganda

We had an amazing experience on our gorilla trekking trip in Africa, thanks to our fantastic guide and driver! Everything ran smoothly from start to finish. All of the lodges were booked by the agency and were of great quality (we chose the mid-range option). The car was always clean and comfortable, and any requests we had during the trip were promptly addressed. Our guide was knowledgeable, professional, and made the entire journey stress-free. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Accommodating -Wonderful

I chose a 4 day tour of Rwanda, Moroka expeditions was very flexible. I came as a solo woman traveler and I felt very safe and taken care of. My guide was with me for the entirety of the trip. I did a chimpanzee trek, congo-nile hike and visited Museums. My lodging and meals were taken care and everything was quite affordable and flexible. I will be booking with them again in the future.

Fantastic experience with a great tour guide/driver

The communication throughout was very good. Provided me with all I needed to know and have before my departure from home. Vehicle was clean and safe, and my driver, Kabanda was amazing. We had many good laughs together. Value for the money is very good and I did a gorilla trek to Bwindi. Two words. Do It!! It was awesome.

Personal Jinja Tour from Entebbe

I had a great day with Abraham and his driver Wilson. We did a whole day tour starting at 6am until 7pm. I was very eager to see the source of the river Nile and they made a great and very professional experience for me out of it. On the way there we made one stop to see the Sezibwa Falls and another in the Mabira Rainforest. Allthough I just had one day time for touristic activities, they gave me a great short view to the country's beautiful nature. I absoulutely enjoyed the whole day. Abraham was a professional guide, he gave lots of information and organized the whole day perfectly. Also we had very nice personal conversation, especially during the lunchtime. Lets not forget Wilson the driver, he drove so calm and smooth in all this (for european driver like me) demanding traffic, which together with the really comfortable car, made the day perfect. Considering it was a whole day they spent with me as single guest, the price was absolutely fair and I will certainly do another tour with this company whenever I come back.
