Chishimba Waterfall Packages 2027: Prices & Visit Guide

Last updated: October 2026

Chishimba Waterfall Packages 2027 focus on a luxury Rovos Rail journey through Zambia, with published prices starting at US$20,615 per person. The visit includes a scenic bush walk, viewpoints and rock pools below three waterfalls on the Luombe River. Exact 2027 departure dates and seasonal visit advice should be checked before booking.

Three waterfalls sit along one river, yet many travelers see Chishimba Falls only as a short stop on a much longer African rail journey. Chishimba Waterfall Packages 2027 give you a way to pair Zambia's northern scenery with a high-end Rovos Rail trip between Dar es Salaam and Cape Town.

Chishimba Falls is a group of three waterfalls on the Luombe River. Mutumuna, Kaela and Chishimba stretch across about 300 metres, with walking routes leading toward rock pools below the falls. The area also carries a strong Bemba tradition. A nature spirit named Chishimba is said to live in a cave behind the falls.

Quick answer: Chishimba Waterfall Packages 2027 are best understood as part of a luxury rail itinerary rather than a stand-alone budget excursion. Published prices start at US$20,615 per person, while one 2027 Rovos Rail listing gives Deluxe and Royal fares of US$21,800 and US$28,600. The stop includes a scenic bush walk.

This guide explains what the waterfall visit includes, what the published prices mean, and how to plan your booking. It also separates confirmed facts from details that need checking before you pay. What are Chishimba Waterfall Packages 2027?

Chishimba Waterfall Packages 2027 are luxury travel packages that include a guided visit to Chishimba Falls during a Rovos Rail journey across southern and eastern Africa. The listed rail route links Dar es Salaam and Cape Town, and its Zambia program includes a stop at the falls. The waterfall visit is one part of a much longer rail holiday.

Overview of Chishimba Falls

Chishimba Falls is a series of three waterfalls along the Luombe River in Zambia. The three sections are Mutumuna, Kaela and Chishimba. Together, they cover about 300 metres, giving visitors more than one place to view moving water and rock.

The visit is built around light walking rather than a long technical hike. It includes a pleasant bush walk toward rock pools at the base of the falls. Visitors can also view the water from several points along the route. That format suits travelers who want nature time without leaving a luxury train journey for several days.

Known for:

• Three waterfalls on the Luombe River
• A walking route to rock pools below the falls
• Several viewpoints across the waterfall area
• Bemba tradition linked to a nature spirit named Chishimba
• A stop on the Rovos Rail Dar es Salaam to Cape Town journey

Why the stop matters

Rovos Rail is the main package link identified in the 2027 research. Its Dar es Salaam itinerary lists a Chishimba Falls visit, while itinerary descriptions explain that guests leave the train for a scenic bush walk. This makes the experience different from a typical waterfall day trip booked from a nearby city.

The rail format also changes how you should judge the price. You are not paying only for transport to the waterfall. You are considering a long, guided rail holiday with a premium cabin, scheduled stops and a planned excursion. Great Rail Journeys lists the 2027 itinerary from US$20,615 per person.

Chishimba Falls also matters for local energy planning. A 2026 World Bank energy compact describes a 2025 to 2027 rehabilitation and expansion project for the Chishimba Falls hydropower station. The project is planned to raise capacity from 6 MW to 14.8 MW, with €41.5 million in KfW funding.

That energy project is separate from the visitor walk, but it is useful context. It shows that Chishimba is both a travel site and an active infrastructure location. Ask your travel planner how the project may affect access, views or stop arrangements during your 2027 journey.

What do Chishimba Waterfall Packages 2027 cost?

Chishimba Waterfall Packages 2027 have a published starting price of US$20,615 per person on a 2027 Rovos Rail itinerary. A separate Rovos Rail listing gives a Deluxe fare of US$21,800 and a Royal fare of US$28,600. These figures describe the rail journey, not a simple entrance ticket or local waterfall transfer.

Published 2027 price comparison

The listed fares use different presentations, so compare them carefully. Great Rail Journeys gives a per-person starting figure. Rovos Rail lists cabin categories and prices. The provided fare listing does not explain the full fare basis or every inclusion. Therefore, ask for a written package summary before you book.

Published prices also appear in different currencies across travel listings. One Rovos Rail journey description gives an Australian dollar starting price of AUD 27,615 per person, twin share. Exchange rates can change the final amount in your home currency, so use the currency shown on the quote.

What the price is buying

The high cost reflects the wider rail holiday. The Chishimba stop includes the experience of leaving the train for a bush walk, walking toward rock pools and seeing the falls from more than one viewpoint. It is therefore a poor fit if you only want a low-cost waterfall visit.

Best for: travelers who value a set luxury route, rail service and guided sightseeing. A stand-alone waterfall traveler should compare other Zambia trips before choosing a rail fare. A rail traveler should focus on cabin type, trip direction, departure date and the exact list of included excursions.

Questions to ask before paying

• Is the quoted price per person or per cabin?
• Does the price use single occupancy or twin share?
• Which currency applies to the final payment?
• Is the Chishimba Falls walk included in the rail fare?
• What happens if access changes during the 2025 to 2027 hydropower project?
• Which 2027 departure date and travel direction does the quote cover?

How do you visit Chishimba Falls in 2027?

You visit Chishimba Falls in 2027 by joining a scheduled rail itinerary that includes the stop, rather than treating the published package as a local day tour. The listed Rovos Rail journey includes a Chishimba Falls visit and a scenic bush walk. Your first step is to match the departure date, fare class and route direction.

Getting started

1. Choose whether you want the Dar es Salaam to Cape Town route or the reverse direction.
2. Compare the published 2027 starting fare with the Deluxe and Royal fare options.
3. Ask for the exact Chishimba Falls stop details in your itinerary.
4. Confirm whether the walk reaches the rock pools and which viewpoints are included.
5. Read the cancellation and change rules before making payment.

Rovos Rail lists a 2027 Dar es Salaam to Cape Town itinerary with Chishimba Falls included. Another itinerary description places the visit within the Cape Town to Dar es Salaam journey and describes a walk to the rock pools. The direction changes your wider trip plan, but both descriptions show that the falls are part of a multi-country rail holiday.

What to expect on the walk

The Chishimba Falls excursion includes a scenic bush walk. Available descriptions mention a pleasant walk toward rock pools at the base of the falls and viewing points around the waterfall area. Wear shoes that handle uneven ground. Bring water, sun protection and a camera that you can carry comfortably.

The walk is also a place to respect local meaning. Bemba tradition identifies a nature spirit named Chishimba as living in a cave behind the falls. Stay with your guide, follow local instructions and avoid entering restricted areas. Do not treat the cave or the water as a photo prop.

Best practices for 2027

• Book early enough to secure your preferred cabin category.
• Use the exact 2027 fare currency when comparing quotes.
• Keep your walking kit in a day bag, not inside checked luggage.
• Ask about weather, trail conditions and access before departure.
• Leave time for schedule changes on a long rail journey.
• Read reviews before choosing an operator for extra Zambia travel.

Exact 2027 departure dates and month-by-month waterfall conditions are not included in the available listings. Do not assume that every date offers the same water level or walking conditions. Ask for current departure information and the planned excursion notes before you finalize your booking.

Travelers who want a waterfall-focused Zambia trip can also compare Livingstone safari packages and day trips for 2027. Livingstone is a different base, so it should not be treated as the same access route to Chishimba Falls.

How should you compare Chishimba Falls with other Zambia stops?

Compare Chishimba Falls by travel style, not by waterfall name alone. Chishimba is a guided rail excursion with a bush walk. A separate Zambia safari or city-based day trip follows a different route, budget and pace. That difference matters more than the waterfall stop itself.

Chishimba Falls or a wider safari?

Chishimba Falls suits travelers who want a short nature visit inside a luxury rail holiday. The rail itinerary provides the main structure, while the waterfall stop adds walking and scenery. A wider safari suits travelers who want more time for wildlife drives, local guiding and flexible nights.

The price gap can be large. The published rail itinerary starts at US$20,615 per person. That figure sets a clear benchmark for a luxury rail trip. Compare it with a separate safari quote rather than assuming a local waterfall package costs the same.

SafariFind's catalog can help you compare verified operators, package details and traveler reviews. Use the waterfall stop as one part of your plan, then check whether the full rail route matches your time and budget.

Chishimba Falls or Victoria Falls?

Victoria Falls is a separate Zambia destination with its own travel plans and package market. Chishimba Falls is a three-waterfall stop on the Luombe River. Victoria Falls should not replace Chishimba in your itinerary unless you want a different waterfall experience and route.

The same rule applies to other places in Zambia. A trip based in Lusaka follows a different plan from a northern waterfall stop. A journey through Kasama may also involve different transport choices and timing. Use a map and a written itinerary before you combine destinations.

Who should choose this package?

Best for: couples, rail fans, luxury travelers and visitors who prefer a guided schedule. The package is also a good match for people who want to see several African countries in one journey.

Less suitable for: travelers seeking the lowest-cost waterfall visit, independent hikers who want several days at the falls, or visitors who want to choose every daily activity. The published price and rail format point to a premium, structured holiday.

Conclusion

Chishimba Waterfall Packages 2027 offer a luxury rail-based way to see three waterfalls on Zambia's Luombe River. The published starting fare is US$20,615 per person. Rovos Rail also lists 2027 Deluxe and Royal fares of US$21,800 and US$28,600. The included visit features a scenic bush walk, rock pools and several viewpoints.

Choose this experience if you want a structured rail journey with a short nature excursion. Choose a separate Zambia safari if you want more flexible travel or a lower trip cost. Before paying, confirm the departure date, fare basis, cabin type, walking plan and any access changes linked to the 2025 to 2027 hydropower project.
